Know the Founders
Driven by a passion for design and cultural preservation, our founders have built ZOHA as a bridge between time-honored craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.
Zoha: A Timeline of Threads and Transformation
Crafting a legacy, one knot at a time
1979
A Journey Sets Sail
With the first commercial order, passion found its purpose.
From quiet craftsmanship to a growing livelihood, the family’s weaving legacy began to chart its own course.

1982
The World Took Notice
Recognition arrived draped in garlands.
A prestigious order from Germany carried their craft beyond borders, turning a humble village name into one celebrated in homes across Europe.

2007
Zoha Was Born
After nearly three decades, a new name emerged, Zoha. Inspired by light, grace, and the pursuit of something pure and original, Zoha became the next chapter in the family legacy, a name that looked both inward and forward.

2010
Women at the Centre
Empowerment took centre stage as women from nearby villages were trained in the art of weaving.
What began as employment grew into confidence, creativity, and community, where craft became their voice.

2018
The Weavers of Hope Initiative
Zoha launched Weavers of Hope, a program dedicated to artisan welfare, from healthcare to children’s education to preserving rare techniques.
It was no longer just about rugs; it was about lives.

2023
The Art and the Artisan
Our focus returned to where it all began, the artisans themselves.
Through every rug, they became our true representatives, carrying the soul of Zoha and the stories of their craft to the world.

1980
When Persian Weaves Found Their Voice
What began as a quiet craft earned its moment in the spotlight.
With a love for Persian weaving at its core, Yaqub and Sons shared their vision, bringing intricate stories woven in every rug to a larger stage.

1990
New Techniques, New Territory
Together with his team, Mohd. Yaqub embraced the art of Tibetan weaving.
It was more than expansion, it was exploration, a step that honoured tradition while shaping the brand’s evolving craft.

2008
A New Design Language
Zoha embraced contemporary motifs, bolder palettes, and custom collaborations.
Without losing the soul of the craft, the designs began speaking to a new generation, more personal, more expressive.

2014
A Global Footprint
Zoha rugs found their place in design studios, conscious homes, and curated stores across the globe. With them travelled stories of hands, heritage, and hope.

2020
Holding the Thread Through Crisis
As the world stood still during the pandemic, Zoha stood by its people and partners.
We reimagined work, ensured safety, and kept every loom running, quietly, safely, and meaningfully, so that our global bonds remained unbroken.

1978
Where It All Began
In the heart of Uttar Pradesh, Yaqub and Sons was founded not as a business, but as a humble commitment to the craft of weaving. The looms were simple, the patterns precise, the legacy just beginning.

2025
The Story Continues
Today, Zoha is a thriving collective of 5,000+ artisans, rooted in heritage and reaching toward a conscious future. No longer just a brand, we are a living, breathing fabric of culture, woven with memory, meaning, and hope.
The Story. The Journey. The Knot.
